Cropped dogs born in Sweden or in another country where cropping is banned may not be exhibited. The exhibition ban also includes cropped dogs which are the offspring of a dam in Danish, Finnish, Norwegian or Swedish ownership. Docked dogs may only be exhibited on condition that they meet one or more of the following criteria:
- the dog was born in a country other than Sweden or Norway, is not the offspring of a dam in Swedish or Norwegian ownership at the time the docking was carried out, docking was permitted in the dog's country of birth.
- the dog was born in Sweden on or after 1 January 1993 and the docking was carried out for medical purposes to remedy an injury suffered after birth, and an original record of this in the form of a veterinary certificate can be produced both at the event and at a later date.
Docked Dobermanns or Rottweilers born on or after 1 January 1997 in a country where a docking ban is in force may not be shown irrespective of the reason for the docking.

Preparation of dogs
for exhibition
(coat, nose and skin)
No dog whose coat, nose or skin has been treated with substances intended to change the colour or texture thereof may be exhibited. This includes the use of colorants, hair spray, gel, mousse, chalk, talcum powder etc.
Only preparations which are clearly intended to aid combing/brushing (conditioner/conditioning spray) and/or reduce static electricity may be used on an otherwise untreated coat prior to exhibition.
Doping and other improper measures The exhibition of injured or sick dogs is not permitted, nor is the exhibition of dogs which have been subjected to measures aimed at improperly altering their appearance, performance or character, or intended to conceal signs of injury or illness.

For details of regulations regarding prohibited treatments and measures, please see National doping regulations for dogs, which also includes instructions for how to apply for exemption from the above regulations.

It is incumbent upon the person responsible for a dog to ascertain how a specific treatment or other measure may affect the eligibility of that dog to participate in breed shows, trials or competitions.

When the show committee/trial management/competition management decides to carry out tests with the aim of investigating the issue of doping or other prohibited action, it is incumbent upon the person responsible for a dog to make that dog available for testing and for any further examination resulting from the test.

Vaccination guidelines
for dogs entered
in the show
The vaccination regulations adopted by Svenska Kennelklubben apply to the show. Non-Swedish exhibitors are responsible for obtaining information on the rules and regulations for importing dogs into Sweden and reimporting into the exhibitor’s native country. Up-to-date information on the import of dogs to Sweden is available on the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket) www.sjv.se
The Svenska Kennelklubbens
vaccination regulations
The vaccination regulations adopted by Svenska Kennelklubben apply at dog shows and trials, as well as at any other public canine event. The organiser is responsible for checking the vaccination certificates of all dogs. To be eligible for participation in shows or trials, a dog must have an up-to-date distemper vaccination
Distemper vaccination Participating dogs must have been vaccinated against distemper in accordance with the following:
Dog under 1 year: vaccinated when no younger than 10 weeks old.
Dog over 1 year: vaccinated when no younger than one year old, with the most recent subsequent vaccination having been carried out within the past 4 years.
First-time vaccinations must have been carried out at least 14 days before the day of competition.
Parvo vaccination Svenska Kennelklubben recommends that all dogs be vaccinated against parvo. Please ask your own vet for advice on the parvo vaccines available.
Rabies vaccination Sweden is a rabies-free country, and it is, therefore, important that all dogs imported into the country are vaccinated against this illness. For up-to-date information, please visit the Swedish Board of Agriculture's (Jordbruksverket) website www.sjv.se
Worming Tapeworm (Echinococcus) can cause serious illness in humans and dogs. Tapeworm carried by foxes can be spread by dogs to humans via wild berries or mushrooms. If tapeworm carried by foxes spreads to Sweden it may threaten Swedish open-air recreation and the opportunity for people to enjoy berries and mushrooms picked in the countryside. It is, therefore, of the utmost importance that dogs are wormed before they are brought into Sweden. For up-to-date information, please visit the Swedish Board of Agriculture's (Jordbruksverket) website www.sjv.se
NB! The vaccination requirements for the import of dogs
to Sweden are more stringent than the vaccination regulations
for the show.
